Location: Remote (U.S. based, with occasional travel for PSEF Staff and Member program events)

ABOUT PSEF
The People’s Solar Energy Fund is an innovative member-organized nonprofit working to advance energy democracy by supporting the development and scaling of community-led and community-owned clean energy projects. Primarily focused on supporting frontline low-income, Black, Indigenous and Communities of Color (BIPOC) throughout the development process, PSEF was founded in 2018 to serve as a resource commons where community-based solar developers can access project capital, technical assistance and shared services and be part of a learning community of project developers. POSITION OVERVIEW
PSEF seeks a passionate, community-centered and well-organized Membership Engagement Coordinator to play a key role in strengthening and expanding PSEF’s membership base, deepening engagement among members and ensuring that PSEF’s work remains deeply informed by community members. The Coordinator will develop a deep knowledge of PSEF’s offerings and serve as the primary liaison between PSEF Members and staff. The Coordinator and will be responsible for outreach, relationship building and engagement strategies that support members in advancing community-led solar projects. This role requires a deep appreciation of community-led solutions (particularly in the energy space), excellent people skills, and demonstrated competence in engaging comfortably with diverse constituencies. The Coordinator will develop a deep knowledge of PSEF’s offerings and serve as the primary liaison between PSEF Members and staff. Responsibilities
New Member Growth and Onboarding
- Coordinate new member onboarding and orientation, including setting up member interviews, gathering member information and orienting new members on PSEF governance, offerings and responsibilities.
- Facilitate member onboarding and ensure a smooth transition for new members (setting members up on PSEF’s member portal).
- Support team strategies to recruit new aligned members developing community-led clean energy projects.
- Work collaboratively with ED and Program teams to develop and implement a robust membership engagement strategy that enhances member engagement and adequately supports member goals.
- Regularly check in with members to assess needs, satisfaction and address concerns.
- Plan and facilitate events, webinars, and convenings that bring members together to learn and share experiences and collectively advance their projects.
- Serves as the primary point of contact for members, addressing their needs and connecting them with the relevant resources and opportunities.
- Coordinate members accessing PSEF offerings (including grants, loans, guarantees, technical assistance, shared services etc.)
- Maintain an organized calendar and schedule for membership-related activities.
- Tracking and reporting on member participation, engagement and access to services.
- Support the preparation of membership meetings, gathering data through polls and direct engagement to ensure dynamic member participation
- Update membership folders portal up to date – update membership documents and manage the member-only section of the website (together with Communications staff).
- Coordinate and facilitate members accessing PSEF offerings (including grants, loans, guarantees, TA, Shared services)
- Provide support to the communications team, by obtaining inputs for newsletters, website, social media, grant proposals, reports etc.
- Gather data and coordinate information exchange between members and relevant PSEF staff (TA, lending, shared services staff)
- Assist with the optimization and management of various services, including PSEF Technical Assistance, PSEF Loans, and PSEF Mini-grants etc.
- Assist with coordinating activities related to member aggregated products and services (.eg aggregated insurance) – including data collection, document management, and communication with the members.
- Create processes and tracking systems to ensure the efficient operation of each service.
- Provide staff support for Member convenings, meetings, webinars, retreats etc.
- Connect members with the appropriate resources and support staff as needed.
- Coordinate committees and working groups, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
- Gather feedback from members, program participants and community members to inform program design and implementation, as well as PSEF’s overall strategy.
- Provide support to the communications team, by obtaining inputs for newsletters, website, social media, grant proposals, reports etc.
- Serve on specific PSEF Working Groups as a direct liaison to members.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
Experience and Skills
- Minimum of 5 years experience in a membership engagement, coordinator, community organizing, coalition building role, or a related field.
- Previous experience in membership management, administration, or related roles.
- Strong relationship-building skills with experience engaging diverse communities, particularly grassroots community groups.
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and comfort coordinating information from multiple members.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to facilitate discussions and convenings.
- An enthusiastic and creative spirit, with a passion for PSEF’s mission.
- Commitment to a Just Transition lens and advancing Energy Democracy.
- Highly competent in Google Workspace, word processing, spreadsheet, presentation software, database management, calendar management, document organization, and other online tools.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment while collaborating effectively with team members.
Knowledge
- Knowledge of community-owned solar or other renewable energy models, cooperative models or community development finance is a plus.
- Familiarity with environmental justice frameworks and commitment to Just Transition principles.
