ABOUT PSEF
The People’s Solar Energy Fund is an innovative member-organized nonprofit working to advance energy democracy by supporting the development and scaling of community-led and community-owned clean energy projects. Primarily focussed on supporting frontline low-income, Black, Indigenous and communities of Color (BIPOC) throughout the development process, PSEF serves as a resource commons where community-based solar developers can access project capital, technical assistance and shared services and be part of a learning community of project developers.
POSITION OVERVIEW
PSEF seeks a passionate, creative, mission-aligned, and well-organized Membership Services Coordinator to serve as a liaison between PSEF Members, staff and Board. PSEF operates as a member-organized resource hub for community-based solar developers across the nation, and seeks a Coordinator to deeply engage our current members, coordinate member services and oversee the new member process. This role requires a deep appreciation of community-led solutions (particularly in the energy space), an understanding of the intersection of environmental, racial and economic justice, excellent people skills, and demonstrated competence in engaging comfortably with diverse constituencies (PSEF prioritizes frontline low-income, Black, Indigenous and Communities of Color).
Responsibilities
The Membership Services Coordinator will develop a deep knowledge of PSEF’s offerings and approach, in order to support Members in meeting their project needs. The Coordinator will often serve as Members’ first point of contact and work closely and collaboratively with Members to facilitate access to the appropriate resources and offerings. Responsibilities will include (but not be limited to) the following:
New Member Orientation
- Coordinate and oversee the new member orientation, including – setting up member interviews, gathering member information and orienting new members on PSEF governance, offerings and responsibilities.
- Facilitate member onboarding and ensure a smooth transition for new members (setting members up on PSEF’s member portal).
Membership Engagement & Management
- Work collaboratively with the Co-Director to develop and implement a membership engagement strategy to enhance membership engagement and adequately support member goals.
- Regularly check in with members to assess needs, satisfaction and address concerns.
- Maintain an organized calendar and schedule for membership-related activities.
- Tracking and reporting on member participation, engagement and access to services.
- Develop creative strategies to increase meaningful member engagement.
- Support the preparation of membership meetings, gathering data through polls and direct engagement to ensure dynamic member participation
- Take detailed meeting notes and ensure proper documentation.
- Develop and implement processes to streamline membership operations.
- Keep the membership folders & Member portal up to date – update membership documents and manage the member-only section of the website (together with Communications staff).
- Provide support to communications & development consultants by obtaining inputs for newsletter, website, social media, grant proposals, reports etc.
Membership Services Coordination
- Coordinate and facilitate members accessing PSEF offerings (including grants, loans, guarantees, TA, Shared services)
- Gather data and coordinate information exchange between members and relevant PSEF staff (TA, lending, shared services staff)
- Assist with the optimization and management of various services, including PSEF Technical Assistance, PSEF Loans, and PSEF Mini-grants etc.
- Assist with coordinating activities related to the Insurance Buying Group, including data collection, document management, and communication with the broker.
- Create processes and tracking systems to ensure the efficient operation of each service.
- Provide staff support for Member convenings, meetings, webinars, retreats etc.
- Connect members with the appropriate resources and support staff as needed.
Committee and Working Group Coordination
- Coordinate committees and working groups, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
- Assist with meeting calendaring, preparation and follow-up tasks as needed.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years experience in coordinator roles is required.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience (membership engagement, organizing, customer service).
- Previous experience in membership management, administration, or related roles.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Familiarity with renewable energy solutions and environmental justice frameworks.
- An enthusiastic and creative spirit, with a passion for PSEF’s mission.
- Commitment to a Just Transition lens and advancing Energy Democracy.
- Highly competent in Google Workspace, word processing, spreadsheet, presentation software, database management, calendar management, document organization, and other online tools.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with team members.
- Fluent English written and oral language skills.

Time: Full-time Exempt Employee
Schedule: Regularly scheduled full time hours (with flexibility based on location & other factors)
